Marie Curie Cancer Care Imperial War Museum Zip Slide





Also on the 11th and 12th October ACE provided Marie Curie Cancer Care with its second zip slide at the Imperial War Museum, raising around £60,000.00. This impressive zip crosses the Manchester shipping canal.

National 3 Peaks Open Events

On the 11th and 12th October ACE carried out one of its National 3 Peaks open event challenges. Two teams participated completing the challenge in 26 hours.

Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge Open Event

On the 4th October ACE ran another of its open event Yorkshire 3 Peaks walking challenges. The group completed it under 12 hours.

Middlesborough Transporter Bridge Zip Slide



ACE spent two weekends in Middlesborough on the 27th and 28th September and back again on the 4th and 5th October. Different charities took part in the zip slide over the four days.

Baitings Dam Abseil

Also on the 28th September we were back at Baitings Dam to provide an abseil for a group from Asda.

Walsall Art Gallery Diabetes UK

On the 28th September ACE returned to the Walsall New Art Gallery this time to provide an abseil for Diabetes UK.

London Rat Race

On the 28th September Adventure Challenge Events provided an abseil as part of the race for the London Rat Race.

Marquess Of Anglesey Column Open Abseil



Also on the 21st September we had our Open Abseil event at the Marquess of Anglesey Column. It was a lovely day with the sun out. Five charities took part in the event. A special well done to Les who abseiled aged 83 years old!

Headingley Carnegie Stadium Open Zip Slide


On Sunday 21st September Ian Weeks was then in Leeds to run Adventure Challenge Events first Open Zip Slide event at the Headingley Carnegie Stadium. Six different charities took part in the event.

Manchester United Abseil



Meanwhile on the Saturday Ian Weeks was in Manchester running a 5 rope abseil at Old Trafford. Saturday the 20th September was Cystic Fibrosis Trust day and then Francis House Childrens Hospice abseiled on the Sunday 21st September.

Marie Curie Cancer Care Tyne Bridge zip slide


On the same weekend on the 21st September Ian Loombe was in Newcastle to provide the zip slide for Marie Curie Cancer Care from the Tyne Bridge. Over £27,000 was raised on the day!

Hadrians Wall Challenge Cystic Fibrosis Trust

The start of a busy weekend for Adventure Challenge Events saw Stuart heading up to Northumberland to lead a party doing two days walking along the Hadrians Wall route. The group completed the challenge on the 20th and 21st September for Cystic Fibrosis Trust.

Zip Slide at Braintree

On the 19th September ACE travelled to Braintree to provide a zip slide for 400 school children.

Carlisle Civic Centre Abseil



Also on the 14th September 2008 ACE held its first Open Abseil Event at the Carlisle Civic Centre. The event was shared with Marie Curie Cancer Care who had one rope abseiling 11 people who raised over £2,000 between them. On the ACE rope we had participants raising funds for Muscular Dystrophy Campaign, British Red Cross and a group of employees from Capita who were raising for Macmillan Cancer Support. Also one lady by herself had raised over £400 for the RNLI.

British Red Cross Runcorn Bridge Abseil

On the 14th September ACE travelled to Runcorn and to the 'Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps' pub! to provide an abseil for the British Red Cross. The supporters abseiled listening to bands playing live in the pub and the smell of burgers on the BBQ!

Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge

On the 13th September we ran a Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge for a group raising money for the Bridge 2 Aid charity.

Mersey Open Abseil Event



On the 7th September ACE ran its first Open Abseil Event at the Mersey Tunnel Ventilation Shaft. The event was a sell out straight away with 9 charities taking part in the abseil.

Macmillan Cancer Support X Scape Zip Slide

On the 6th and 7th September 2008 ACE ran a zip slide at the X scape in Castleford for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Galway Rat Race Ireland

ACE travelled to Ireland for a second time to provide an abseil for the Galway Rat Race on 6th September. The abseil was at a shopping centre as part of the urban adventure race.

Gaelforce Race Ireland


Over the summer ACE headed over to Ireland to help on part of the Gaelforce Race on teh West Coast.

Marie Curie Cancer Care Leasowe Lighthouse Abseil

On Sunday 10th August we ran an abseil at the Leasowe Lighthouse on behalf of Marie Curie Cancer Care.

British Red Cross Baitings Dam Abseil



Meanwhile up North ACE ran a 2 day abseil event on the 9th and 10th August at Baitings Dam on behalf of the British Red Cross. Participants not only had to brave the dam wall but also the grim weather!

Walsall New Art Gallery Open Abseil Event



On Sunday 13th July Adventure Challenge Events ran its first open abseil event at the Walsall New Art Gallery. We had a great day with four charities quickly 'snapping' up the available places. Lichfield and District Dog Training Society raised over £1,000 for Canine Partners! Two ladies also abseiled raising over £700 for the Air Ambulance!

Newport Transporter Bridge Open Abseil Event



On Sunday 13th July Ian Weeks ran our Open Abseil Event at the Newport Transporter Bridge. Again twelve charities took part some of which also participated in the zip slide event.

This weekend Ian Weeks was down in South Wales firstly running our Open Zip Slide Event at the Newport Transporter Bridge on Saturday 12th July. A total of twelve charities took part in the day.

Cystic Fibrosis Trust Ben Nevis Challenege


Ian Loombe was up in Scotland this weekend supporting the Cystic Fibrosis Trust on their Ben Nevis walking challenge. A total of 45 people completed the challenge including two people with CF!

Kings College Hospital Open Abseil Event

Also on Sunday 6th July we held our second open abseil event at the Kings College Hospital in conjunction with the hospital. Six charities were involved in the day including the Dystonia Society who raised over £1,000 from just four abseilers!

Macmillan Cancer Support Abseil and Zip Slide at West Ham



On Sunday 6th July Ian Weeks and the London team ran an abseil and zip slide at West Ham for Macmillan Cancer Support. So far the charity has collected over £16,000 in sponsorship money.

Leeds Met Open Abseil Event



On Sunday 6th July Adventure Challenge Events help an open event at Leeds Met University. Six charities were involved in the day. We even abseiled Leeds Rhinos players and Leeds Carnegie players!

Marie Curie Cancer Care Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge

Ian Loombe was back in the Yorkshire Dales this weekend this time to run the Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge for Marie Curie Cancer Care. Nearly 500 people braved the terrible weather on Saturday 5th July to do the walk, raising an amazing £125,000!

Marie Curie Cancer Care Abseil at Rushcliffe Civic Centre

Back up North on the 29th June ACE provided an abseil for Marie Curie Cancer Care at the Rushcliffe Civic Centre.

Sick Childrens Trust Abseil at Riverwalk House

Ian Weeks then travelled to London to provide an abseil for the Sick Childrens Trust at Riverwalk House on Sunday 29th June.

Brighton Rat Race

Meanwhile on Saturday 28th June Ian Weeks and a team was down in Brighton providing tecnical support on the Rat Race event.

St Elizabeths Hospice Zip Slide at Ipswich Town FC


It has been another busy weekend for ACE. Ian Loombe ran a zip slide over the 28th and 29th June at Ipswich Town Football Club on behalf of St Elizabeths Hospice.

Cystic Fibrosis Trust Yorkshire 3 Peaks



Also on the 21st June Ian Loombe and a team of instructors were in the Yorkshire Dales providing support for the CF Trust on their Yorkshire 3 Peaks Walking Challenge.

Baitings Dam Open Abseil and Zip Slide Event



What a wet weekend! On Saturday 21st June Adventure Challenge Events held its open abseil and zip slide event at Baitings Dam. The weather looked doubtful in the morning and then the heavens opened! Everybody still turned up smiling and enjoyed the event. Fourteen charities took part in the event which is great!

Bristol Rat Race


A team travelled down to Bristol this weekend to provide technical support on the Bristol Rat Race. One of the parts of the race included BCFC.

Macmillan Cancer Support Zip Slide at Xscape


On Sunday 15th June we added another Xscape venue to our zip slide list this time at the Milton Keynes Xscape building on behalf of Macmillan Cancer Support. We zipped from the building down into the car park.

HOG BOSS!!!!! ALTON WHOLE HOG



Its been a busy weekend at ACE. Sunday 15th June saw the first Whole Hog race of 2008 which was also the first race at Alton Towers and Alton Castle. Ian Loombe and a team spent last week building the course and preparing for the event. We had nearly 100 runners on the day and despite the race being in a summer month, we still managed to find plenty of mud and water in keeping with the Whole Hog tradition! Tyne Bridge Open Abseil Event



On Sunday 8th June we held our second Open Abseil event at the Tyne Bridge. Ten charities were involved in the day plus many individuals that were fundraising for different causes. We had a great day which was greatly helped by the sun coming out!

Army Benevolent Fund zip slide at NUFC


On the 18th May ACE returned to St James Park, the home of Newcastle United Football Club to run a zip slide for the Army Benevolent Fund.

Arundel Castle abseil



On the 17th May ACE travelled all the way to Arundel Castle to run a 5 rope abseil. The event was a partnership between Worthing Churches Homeless Project and Help A Local Child.

Duck Race!



On the 11th May we provided a duck race in Leeds for Irwin Mitchell in aid of the Yorkshire Air Ambulance. Other charities were invited along on the day and had stalls in the court yard outside the Royal Armouries. We had a fantastic day much helped by the sun being out all day! And over £8,000 was raised for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.

Dystonia Society Bike Ride at Rutland Water


On Saturday 10th May we travelled down to Rutland Water to support the Dystonia Society with their first cycle event there. Around 70 people took on the challenge with many families taking part and either doing the full 23 miles or taking the 17 miles option. We had a great day and the sun was out! The sponsorship money is still coming in but so far the day has raised over £10,000!!!

Deaf Blind UK Zip Slide at the Tyne Bridge



On the 4th May we provided another zip slide at the Tyne Bridge. This time it was for the charity Deaf Blind UK. So far the charity has collected nearly £17,000.00 from this one event!

Birmingham City FC zip slide



May saw the first Adventure Challenge Events zip slide from the 2008 open event series. This took place on Saturday 3rd May at Birmingham City Football Club. We zipped nearly 100 people from 12 different charities. One of the charities involved was RNLI who fundraised over £500 from just 3 participants! Well done!
